This looks like turkey or veggie bacon. It adds a smokey/salty taste to the sandwich. I have had in on Delta's breakfast sandwiches and the turkey sandwich. It actually is good. You should try it the next time or just take if off the sandwich and eat the rest. I guess Delta is trying to reduce waste for the passengers that don't eat pork.
The salad looks good.
I don't recall the name of the dish, or what they called the bacon. My wife and I both tasted the sandwich and it just wasn't prepared well. Soggy bread and overly salty. I'm not a picky eater, and definitely not someone who is overly critical about airplane food, but this particular dish was simply not a winner.
