Same. I think the only wiggle room was for those whose AFs were due around when the fee level changed.
Just hung up, may have puked at the amount of "how can I put a smile on your face" comments in the script. They offered 10K or $100 to post within 6-8 weeks. No brainer on the points there. No spend requirement, card must just be in good standing which is non issue for me.
Data points: card member for ~ 10 years. Heavy use in 1st five, then sporadic when I switched bulk of spending to AMEX cash back when not traveling/staying SPG as much. Really only used it on property those years. Brought it back to being my primary in the last two years or so when I started traveling more again. ~$1K-1500/month on it.
