One correction, you can load vanillas at KATE but at $49.99 per transaction.
As far as buying vanillas at CVS, in general, no i don't have issues with buying $2000 worth of VGCs at CVS. However some CVS stores are cash only. I've traveled my area and know the CVS' that have no issue with credit cards/AGCs. You should probably read the CVS thread here,
