I think this whole brand refresh looks good on our mobile devices and on the web but when you apply it on 777 or A330 it becomes dull, cold, and uninspiring.

Yep, this is exactly my thoughts too. Feels like a placeholder livery that you might find on a short term lease.
As a designer by trade myself, this is something I encounter everyday - Good, clean, minimalist design, while seemingly effortless looking in its final appearance, is actually deceptively difficult to pull off well. Especially across multiple vastly different platforms.
When done right, it is

When not, clumsy and
