InterContinental Shanghai EXPO

InterContinental Shanghai EXPO

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Mixed feelings

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Executive Suite. 3days before arrival, system indicated to upgrade to Diplomatic Suite. But actually received original Executive Suite upon check-in. I claimed to assign Diplomatic Suite. Finally I received Diplomatic Suite on 26th floor, next to the Club Lounge. I was kept waiting for 4hours until receive Diplomatic Suite.

How are the rooms?
114sqm Bund and Huangpu River view well balanced huge suite. Indeed amazing view. This hotel has 5 Diplomatic Suites. 2 of 5 on penthouse floor (28th) have small balcony.

Video of Diplomatic Suite

How is the Club Lounge?
Facilities are one of the best. Duplex floor with huge terrace. But F&B selection and qualities are very poor. It was the worst in Shanghai's InterContinental. And only a few staff can speak English. It was very difficult to communicate with them.

What was your welcome gift?
Shoes Bag and Plastics Mug.

How was the mini-bar?
Acceptable. Except no hard liquor and no champagne.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
At first not. After I claimed to deliver it on 2nd day, In-room dining staff finally delivered plenty of fruits, macarons, and famous cigar imitated chocolate.

What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
+++++ View of Bund and Huangpu River
++++ Diplomatic Suite
++++ Cantonese Restaurant SHENG HUI TANG
+++ One kind Club Services Officer
+++ Housekeeping Staff
++ Hot water supplied from tap immediately

BAD
----- Room assignment upon check-in
----- Kept waiting for 4hours until receive Diplomatic Suite
----- Small number of English speaker staff
--- Club Lounge Food and Beverage
-- Bathroom shower water pressure was very weak.
-- No hard liquor and Champagne in mini-bar.

Value for $ or Rewards Club Points?
426USD/night for Diplomatic Suite is the great deal. But this hotel still need to improvement. From my point of view, Ruijin ≧ Puxi > Pudong ≧ EXPO

Would you return?
Probably.
