Something very different but worth sharing I think.
Barbara Jane Harrison GC, BOAC air stewardess, died whilst rescuing passengers during the BA712 incident on 8 April 1968.
It's relatively well known about where I live in Scarborough. Jane's sister still lives here (actually on my street), and the local primary school has named their new building extension after her.
I was wondering if this incident, and particularly the heroism/actions of the crew, is ever talked about in BA circles? Perhaps as a case study during Cabin Crew Training? Appreciate it happened nearly 50 years ago.
I note that Jane's George Cross is located at the 'BA Speedbird Centre' - is it on display in a museum area? I was a little surprised Michael Ashcroft hadn't got hold of it...
Apologies for just copying and pasting, but this Wikipedia reference describes the events much better than I can;
