I was told there were no offers on both my and my SO's account, and basically asked for any spending incentive or offers that might incentivize me to spend on the card.
I think there is a sweet spot somewhere in the middle. I've spend around the minimum required for next year Gold (10K). Spend too much and you don't need the incentive to keep the card, spend too little and your not the customer they are after. Somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot. But that is only my speculation.
But of course, calling several times (personally 3 is my limit) could do the trick. Also calling before and after the fee posts might make a difference as well.
