just finished a one night stay here yesterday....there were some teething issues, given that the property had only been open for 5 days with the new st. regis brand but overall i was satisfied with the stay & already have another 5 night reservation booked here for the end of the month....

the ride from the airport took 20 minutes on sunday afternoon & 45 minutes on monday afternoon from the property to the airport....the uber driver was not aware of the re-branding so i had to tell him to take me to the palladium hotel....

upon arrival i noticed a number of bellhops standing in the distance but none of them came over to help me with my luggage until i motioned to them that i needed help....they left my luggage with the concierge on the ground floor & i was informed that the reception is on the 9th floor....i made my way over to the lifts which took me to the reception area....

i passed by a large sitting area in the lobby....it looks very elegant & matches the decor of the hotel very well....

there was a separate line for spg plats but someone was being attended to there so i waited behind them....an agent walked up to me immediately & escorted me to another desk nearby....i was told that they were expecting me & my room was ready....i didn't inquire regarding an upgrade & was escorted to the room by another agent who proceeded to tell me more about the hotel....i asked if there is a club lounge but was disappointed to find out that there isn't one....i received the same room that i had booked, a panoramic king....i booked a panoramic room since the standard deluxe room had no king bed availability for the night i was staying....the only difference between these rooms & the standard ones is that the panoramic rooms are on a higher floor....at check in there were premium rooms, premier rooms & st. regis suites (select standard suite at this property) available but i got no upgrade whatsoever....this was a bit disappointing but i never brought it up since i was only here for one night....

my room was on the 25th floor & i liked the size & decor....it was very elegant & well laid out....

there are a lot of mirrors in the room which give it a larger feel....the bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom fixtures were elegant & the room in general had a good vibe to it....

within a couple of minutes there was a knock on the door & a butler came in & introduced himself....he told me he was the butler for the floor & gave me his card so that i could reach him in case i needed anything....he explained all the features of the room & informed me that as a platinum guest i had free internet & free breakfast at the 'seven kitchens' restaurant....i was also entitled to 2 pieces of laundry....he offered to unpack for me, which i declined....i told him i would let him know in case i needed anything & bid him farewell....

there was a small welcome amenity waiting for me in the room....the fruits were fresh & the indian sweets were very tasty....

the view from my room was great....but the windows were not the cleanest....i can't really blame the hotel for this since this is a problem all high rise buildings in mumbai face in the monsoon season....

there were a few minor issues in the room....maybe i'm being a little harsh here but i expect the quality at a st. regis property to be a lot higher than other hotels....there seemed to be a loose wire on one of the bathroom lights....it kept flickering every now & then....the wallpaper near the bathroom light switch was torn....the inside part of the window sill was not the cleanest....the phone at the desk had no dial tone....the phone in the bathroom still had the old palladium hotel sticker on it....finally, the mini bar menu had a list of snacks, all of which seemed to be missing....the spirits, soft drinks & juices were all there but the snacks were nowhere to be seen....

the next morning i had breakfast at the seven kitchens restaurant....the spread was extremely good....lots of variety & choice....the food was also excellent....no complaints here at all....

during checkout, i asked for a manager to point out the small issues during my stay....he assured me that they would be taken care of immediately & noted the fact that i have another upcoming stay here towards the end of the month....

all in all, it was a nice stay & i liked the property....i expect things to get better in the coming days which should take care of all the little issues i pointed out....i spend about 20-25 nights a year in mumbai & am thinking of shifting all my stays from the westin & itc to the st. regis....
