Further compounding the problem is that there is only one non-stop to HNL from IAH each day. Missing that connection would require a further connection somewhere.
There's a LGA connection through ORD but it's no better at 36 minute connection. Flying through DEN gives you almost three hours! Consider EWR where there are many more flights, including non-stops to HNL.
