I understand that it is not enough say it hurts "somehow". However - OP's question specifically asked if closing an account will hurt credit or not. OP is not seeking for an answer of "how much" or "for how long". On that basis, I believe it is sufficient enough.
Beside - even FICO does not even know the answer of "how much" or "for how long"
