The convention calendar shows only two shows with a combined attendance of 34,000 - just a guess, but it might be that, in mid-July, they get a larger number of overseas visitors who are planning driving excursions (Grand Canyon, etc) as opposed to domestic travelers who are more Strip-centric (not planning out of town trips).
