Holiday Inn Orchard, Singapore

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yep

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
King Bed Junior Suite. No upgrade offered at check in desk. When I asked, they said nothing was available. We were escorted by same (friendly) check in agent to the Lounge to wait as our room wasn't quite ready. I enquired again with the lounge manager to let me know if any rooms open up. A couple mins later, a Deluxe Suite opened up.

How are the rooms?
Room was great. Very spacious and light, and felt clean and in good condition.

Again, the same slightly odd hospital/prison style cot for my son... A complimentary baby/child bath amenity bag is a nice touch.

Coffee machine and tea was good.

How is the exec. lounge?
Lounge was good. Staff were helpful and pleasant. We had breakfast in the main restaurant as we were checking out too early in the morning.

We also had cocktail hour in the main bar as we had our son in tow. The actual food offering was substantial. Pasta, sandwiches and cakes/deserts along with the drinks - which I rate highly. I imagine the added ambience and service in the lounge would make this a winner.

Has a nice atmosphere despite it being 'open air' within the hotel, and feels private.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Overall condition and decoration of the hotel was good, an improvement over HI Atrium.
- Cocktail Hour offering was good.
- Treated my son well with some goody packs at check in, in addition to the bath products.
- Pool and gym on the roof in lovely condition, as wasn't overly packed when we were there.
- Location is good. Just next to Orchard Rd but hidden back so as to avoid the hustle and bustle.

Bad:
- Slightly disjointed upgrade at check in.
- Breakfast at the main restaurant nothing to write home about.

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, and would probably choose over HI Atrium as it would feel more comfortable for longer stays that a night.
