They're pretty much the same questions about BA not showing availability, and wanting to change routing. But I'm not sure why it got merged with a thread about bicycles!
If you particularly want a LAX-TYO and TYO-PEK flight, then you are indeed better off searching for that specifically. A more general LAX-PEK flight will show other routings (e.g. via HKG) and will often not show long (e.g. overnight) connections.
