That's old news though. Biz has been like that for a while. Personal tightening seems very recent. It wasn't that long ago when I was getting 2 Chase cards every 4-5 months. I would apply 2 in a day to merge into one pull. Sometimes had to call for 2nd approval but always easily done by moving CL. Now we get this crap about having 13 cards in 2 years is unacceptable.
I realize YMMV, but that hasn't been our recent experience. In the past year, my DW has been approved for
- Ink Plus
- Marriott biz
- Marriott personal, and
- IHG personal
This week, she was instantly approved for the BA Visa. Like me, she churns pretty regularly: by my count, she opened 16 cards in the last 2 years.
I'm not denying that others may be having a different experience. I would, however, venture an opinion that Chase hasn't tightened up on personal cards for everyone.
