It's an extra 10 minutes of walking time from there to xuhui (v. Hilton) and Beijing Rd is a far cry from Nanjing Rd in terms or glitz, but is still much better than the Nanjing Rd pedestrian street IMO. Honestly, all of jing'an is pretty nice these days. Even though I no longer live there, I'm in the area pretty much every day (most of our clients are still based there, and I continue to regard it as the best part of town...xuhui is also nice, but a tad too hipster for my tastes).
