Using AAdvantage Miles to book partner flights to Italy?

Hello everybody!

I have about 45,000 AAdvantage miles that I would like to use to book an one-way flight to Italy (preferably Venice airport) at the end of this May or beginning of June.

When I went into the AA.com website, I noticed a lot of flights tend to rely on British Airways....which isn't good because of high fuel surcharges, and a lot of flights listed require transfers that are either next day or at terrible hours.

I was wondering if anyone might be able to make suggestions how I can use my AAdvantage miles to book other oneworld partner flights that are direct? Once I've found a partner airline, I am supposed to make a call to an AAdvantage representative to book that flight, right? I've never booked AA miles for partner flights before, so any tips would be appreciated. I'm also fine with taking an economy or "cheapest" flight, if it comes down to that.

Thanks!
