The Plaza New York
The Savoy London
The Montreux Palace
Fairmont Dubai The Palm (not a real luxury property, at least for Dubai standards)

the Fairmont Monaco (and actually all other properties in Monaco) are a far cry from a luxury hotel, especially if you're looking for the service that any other luxury hotel in the world provides. In all fairness though, none of the properties in Monaco provide that level of service.
I second San Francisco as one worth visiting that isn't on your list. Hamburg is also quite nice, although the city is best during pre-Christmas for the markets.
