My guess is premised on the idea that 1000 people were aware of this deal and each bought 4 tickets. I figure the average loss of revenue for each seat is $2500.

Considering the last couple of times I've flown UA Metal coming back from Europe with Cattle Class being 50% to 70% empty, I would think they are used to losing money.
