Department of Civil Aviation have called for a press conference today at 3.00pm but promptly cancelled it when next of kin showed up.

Then then made a formal announcement on local TV that they have declared MH 370 is officially "lost and all lives have been lost" and they are now abiding by conventions in place for an aircraft that has essentially crashed with the loss of all hands and paving the way for payments of insurance claims to next of kin and moving on in this sad sad chapter.

I however find it very typical of Malaysia though....all 3 officials who were partly responsible for this 'fiasco' of losing the airliner and passengers to begin with continue to lead the airline, DCA and the Ministry of Defence without any reprecussions or sackings.

Typical Malaysia.
