On a recent TPAC flight I was asked what I wanted and told that sorry it was gone. I just decided to eat nothing then and they were fine with that. I've never played the GS card and never will. At the end of the flight the purser came up to see me to thank me for the gift (I always bring something for the FA's - especially out of NRT - they love Nagasaki Castella and easy to get at NRT) - and then apologized profusely for the meal screw-up... I was glad that I didn't make a big deal about the meal - I am sure that the FA was given an "education" though - as they are supposed to be the most senior in the system!
I was 2 for 2 on this issue a few days ago (SIN-NRT, NRT-ORD). They both knew I was GS but said that they ran out of my first choice and apologized. I didn't make a fuss about it but was surprised that they told me this.
