Honestly, I've never heard anyone ever use the full nomenclature for these airports. In DC, we have DCA (aka National), Dulles, and BWI. No one, save for tourons, would call them anything else.

I told the taxi to take me to Roissy Airport, not CDG. Much easier to say in French.
