It it about 45% cheaper than buying the miles normally. Being awful with math, I can't figure out why anybody would buy 60,000 miles for $1260?
If you value business class or first class at the prices UA charges for revenue seats, then it is worth spending 2 cpm so that you can book business/first class in then future at a discount. Back when I was spending 500K M+ miles per year, I valued award accelerator for that reason.
