If you earn status by flying, yes, it's good through the following year. If it's MVP status given away as a gift by a 75K member, it matches the giver's status year (i.e. a 75K that flew their miles in 2014 for 2015 status could only give someone MVP until the end of 2015, even if they made that gift
during 2015). In your case where it came from a
contest prize, the terms of the contest would control, but it's probably more like the gift case.
