Club cardholders and Presidential Plus cardholders get United Club membership. As UC members, they get a regular UC membership card (or digital card). The physical credit card does nothing to grant entrance.

The Harrods Amex in the UK got a chip years after every other Amex because of a similar reason.
Meaning the merchant UA won't convert all their terminals in time, so they'd rather their own card not be EMV so in the event of fraud, Chase is liable and not UA?
If so, would seem quite strange that Chase would agree.
