I was trying to reserve (or rather check availability) for a KE flight (Seoul Gimpo) GMP-KIX (Osaka Kansai). The Alitalia agent told me that Korean Airlines flights with numbers greater than 2000 were NOT eligible for award flights.
KVStool shows the flight as being available.
It's possible that:
a) Your agent was misinformed
b) KE used to have flight numbers such that their own flights were all less than 2000, and 2000 and up were all codeshares on other airlines (which would not be eligible for miles redemption through the KE flight number), but AZ hasn't gotten the memo that this seems to have changed
Only recourse is to hang up and call again. And again and again if necessary. If you get a particularly helpful agent you could try prodding them with suggestions like, "That's strange, it shows as available on Delta's [or Air France's] website, could you double-check if that flight is available?"
