yup, i've had many a flight seated in row 1 where i am first on the plane and and the overhead is full on both sides for row 1. It also doesn't help that flight attendants don't follow the carry on rules at all (most have 2 bags + purse, and I've seen a few with 3 full bags + purse) >:/
