The point is CO did in fact serve JFK weather you want to believe it or not. From July 4th 2007:

IAH-JFK was cut around 2008, IIRC - mainly due to the financial crisis.
It's neither here nor there that legacy CAL didn't serve JFK at the time of the merger, if you want to nitpick, legacy UAL didn't serve FLL... both had gaps in their respective networks.
This isn't a big loss, IMO.
