The SPG website is still accepting reservations at the Diplomat into 2016.

Either there is a lack of communication, or Starwood was ambushed by the new owner.

A 60 day notice is not sufficient, considering that holiday and peak season
bookings are quite significant, by now, especially for this popular property.

It looks like the new owner will be making major changes.

For the vacant properties, Thayer will likely name a developer in the coming weeks to build three to five towers for a total of 1,500 rooms on open land, said Jack McCabe, who conducted the market feasibility study on the Westin Diplomat for Thayer. One parcel has already been approved for 372 hotel/condo units, he said.
The possibility of re-naming the Diplomat is also under consideration. It may not be long before all vestiges of the Diplomat are gone.
