At the end of a work assignment, I'll be taking a long weekend on Molokai. At the end of that, my travel agent currently has me booked on MW1749 (9/28, MKK-HNL, 6PM-6:35PM) connecting to UA14 leaving at 8:10P. Never having flown with Mokulele before, I'm not clear if they can interline my bags or not.
Unless something has changed, yes. Be sure you have your United PNR AND ticket # at check-in at MKK.

I'm also not clear if there is a secure side transfer to my United gate.
Again, unless something has changed in the routine, you'll arrive at the Commuter Terminal (map) at HNL. Tell the FA that you have a United connection and you should be escorted to a secure airside area that connects through the "tunnel" to the Hawaiian gates at the Interisland Terminal. You can then go upstairs and take the WikiWiki bus to the United gates, or walk (it's a brisk 20 minute walk)

Folks with more current knowledge can correct me if any of the above is incorrect.

Pushing a bit further, my friend has a United flight at 7:35P that evening. Will an hour be enough for her to make her connection?
I would not book such a connection. She will probably make it, but if virtually anything goes wrong, the time shrinks rapidly for making a successful connection.
