Dear OP-I do not know what you have been reading but SIC codes are used by banks for category of charge along with a merchant id where they monitor activity that can include charge backs and other issues. Many merchants have been killed by losing their merchant account. And I do not care where you live the USA banks have a big hammer above their head and now the foreign banks have the same issue all backed up by laws and acts. All the major banks are holding reserves for future govt fines
