I just got the HA cc and earned miles for a family hawaii trip this late summer (Aug, 14), however, we are a party of 4 and while I did see 4 award tickets available just a few days ago, there is only 3 left after i got my bonus miles from the first statement. My experience is only with inter island tickets. I've found that the awards are only available until they sell out the second most expensive class (sorry, don't know what classes these are). However, the inventory does fluctuate both early and just a few days prior. I've been told that tour operators release seats, and this is one of the reasons for last-minute availability. I'd book the 3 tickets now.
What routing are you looking for? Aug 15th is a state holiday, which will increase traffic inter island.
