was taking the shuttle over to MRY from SJC, then flying to LAS on Allegiant for $39, then returning to the Bay area by renting a one way car from Vegas, I know that 9 hr drive by heart. Alas, the cheapest on Allegiant one way, anymore is $54 or so and not offered as frequent.
