Best historic DUDE RANCH near Cody, WY

I am keeping this detached from the Yellowstone thread as this is a separate discussion pertaining solely to the historic dude ranches near Cody, WY - outside of the parks!

I'm looking for a place that is geared less towards families and young children and more towards adults; offering exciting trail rides through the Shoshone National Forest at various skill levels, with good food and historic charm.

I am considering the following, which also seem to be the most popular ranches in the area:

• 7D Ranch

• Bill Cody Ranch

• Absaroka Mountain Lodge

• Shoshone Lodge & Guest Ranch

7D Ranch seems to be the most remote, though I'm not familiar enough with the surroundings to be certain. It's further away from the other three ranches and seems to be more of a destination than overnight stopover. I would really love to hear from anyone with personal experience and feedback on any of these places.

Thanks!
