OP - You haven't specified, but if this is on other than AA metal, the other carrier(s) have 72 hours to confirm (or not) space. At that point, the reservation will be ticketed. This is generally a non-issue for cash-paid tickets, but in the case of awards, can be a problem if the other carrier pulls the award inventory or otherwise disposes of it.
