Stick to the Piccadilly line - the HEX is a bit of a rip-off. Find a nice pub around Brompton Cross (also off South Kensington) then everything is one place for you.
I was thinking of the Grenadier in Wilton Row (Hyde Park Corner) then a stroll through the park to South Ken. But I've no idea if it's the same as it was 10-15 years ago - not much in London is.
