Its a nice property, on the east end of St. Thomas. It is about a 5 minute drive to Red Hook where there are a bunch of great restaurants and night life. There is also the ferry which goes to St. John.
A car is definitely necessary unless you don't want to leave the hotel, or want to pay $5-10/per person each way in a taxi every time you go out.
