"But Alaska’s latest salvo has to be the dirtiest of them all. Delta is launching nonstop service between Seattle and London Heathrow this week. And to celebrate, Alaska is offering double miles on flights to London, as long as you fly British Airways."
Didn't realize that DL started this week.

The press release was epic (emphasis mine):

SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members flying on partner British Airways between Seattle and London can earn double miles* on travel from March 24 through June 24, 2014. British Airways offers 10 flights a week between Seattle and London's Heathrow Airport. From London, Mileage Plan members can enjoy easy connections to hundreds of cities throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

"This is a terrific opportunity for our members to add miles to their Mileage Plan account while enjoying the unsurpassed service of our longstanding international partner British Airways," said Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines' vice president of marketing. "Our award-winning Mileage Plan delivers global access to our customers, who can earn and redeem miles across 14 airline partners to over 700 destinations worldwide."

Alaska recently enhanced its Mileage Plan by introducing mix-and-match one-way partner awards and allowing all miles flown on all of its international partners to count toward MVP elite status. With Mileage Plan, there is no minimum spend requirement to achieve elite status, and customers enjoy generous availability on award redemptions, one-way travel awards, and combination miles-and-money award redemptions.

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan also rewards customers with elite status faster than any other frequent flier program. Elite-level status is earned for as little as 20,000 miles a year for travel only on Alaska Airlines. If customers combine travel on multiple airlines, elite-level status begins at 25,000 miles.

Alaska Airlines MVP, MVP Gold and Gold 75K Mileage Plan elite-level members enjoy priority boarding, two free checked bags, complimentary upgrades on Alaska Airlines, as well as bonus miles on every flight with Alaska Airlines and other elite-qualifying partner airlines, among other benefits.

To qualify for this offer, travelers must be members of Alaska Airlines' Mileage Plan and register at www.alaskaair.com. Customers who have not yet joined Mileage Plan can enroll online at no cost. For more information and complete double mile rules, visit www.alaskaair.com.
