Added the Tom Binh Western Flyer to the Wiki, as potential good fit for the personal item. When packed appropriately, fills sizer completely, maximizing all dimensions, as long as outside pockets aren't overfilled (but easy enough to put water bottle and book in pocket if necessary) and nothing inside "taller" than 10" or so.
CLARIFICATION: as was pointed out to me by fellow FTer, by published dimensions the Flyer is too "tall" for the personal item. It is 7" front-back and 12" top-bottom. Mine packed is 9" front-back, 10-11" top-bottom. Because of the give of the soft sides mine ends up fatter and shorter, hence fitting the sizer. photos here

And it is a fabulous bag. Over 300 domestic segments over past 18 months and only one frayed decorative thread on the slip-over sleeve.

Of note, the Brookstone Dash Office, fits in both sizers, but is about 2 inches too "tall" for the personal item. Nice thing about this bag, it fits in the overhead bin of the smallest regional jets (including E145 and C200).
