The non-metro cities they are targeting already have service. They are not flying to any new city which does not have service. And some of the cities which are yet to be served are so small, probably cannot even fill a CRJ or EMB. May be a 30 seater turbo prop is the best they can handle economically.

India has too many carriers chasing the same routes and the competition is fierce and I doubt they can be profitable, when others are not, except Indigo. And now with Air Asia and the Tata Airline soon to start flying, it will get even more competitive.
