There is way to do it because there are no decent seats on that flight. If you still want to make seat reservation, you can do it by getting your NH confirm number off the top of your reservation on the UA website and either call NH or use the NH website. To use the website, you need to make the seat reservation at least 3 days in advance.

BTW - UA GPU won't work on NH.
