Online standby options
I'm right now in flight to dfw on a flight that left 2 hours before my originally scheduled flight. I had to run from the AC to make it, so I didn't have time to deal with my connection then. I'm looking at the "same day flight change" options on aa.com, and the flight I really want isn't listed at all. It shows one flight that leaves 5 min after my arrival, so barring a delay that's a no go. And it offers one for hours after my existing flight, which obviously doesn't help. Additionally, even for those it says standby is unavailable and only offers a paid change.
Does this mean that I have no chance at all of standing by for the flight I want? Will the AC in dfw be able to help me more, or are there other options I have in-flight (meaning I can't make a phone call)?
In the end, this saved me from an uncomfortably tight connection, so if I have to stick with my original flight it's not the end of the world. But it would be nice to get home sooner...
