The problem with all Scandinavian hotels is the egalitarian culture. Service and in particular intuitive service is just not there. The Grand is as good- or as bad is it gets in Stockholm.
The only exception INHO is The Nimb in Copenhagen. I can't speak for the newly renovated D'Anglaterre but I can tell you it was formerly a real dump with service levels to match. It is the same owner managers so I can't imagine that it has really improved.
In Oslo, I hear The Thief Hotel is very nice.
Small note- Many years ago (10 at least) I was staying at The Grand and was so frustrated with the awful service I complained to the GM. I suggested they leave a guest comment card in each room. She told me that they stopped because they were getting too many complaints. True story.
