I've stayed there beginning of December for 6 nights and were reaaaaaalllyyyyy delaying writing a report because I'd rather forget about that stay (nothing nightmarish, but just so "ugh" and "meh") but ok here it goes.

Stayed in the newer wing and had a nicely appointed room, spacious bathroom. First the positives (of which there are only 2):

1.5 hrs Swedish massage at the spa was OUTSTANDING!!! (but avoid manicure/pedicure. I ended up spending frustrated 2 hours at the end of which I did everything myself in the room. Yes, I was not charged for the experience but that was the only & proper way to go about it. I also had a facial scheduled but I promptly canceled it after the debacle with above).

Mathias Dahlgren's restaurants are good, though I thought menus on iPads were a cheesy touch at Matsalen and waiters who convince you that your water is not sparkling but flat are "funny", let's just leave it at that and say food was good enough (not outstanding) to overlook the service.

The bad. Walking through the dated, dreary halls with displayed things for sale is quite shocking and makes you pinch yourself a few times and say "am I really almost in 2014 and a 5* property has pathetic/tasteless/cheesy/trashy/can't pick just one word lingerie on display along with other trinket-like jewelry and god knows what else?" But not as shocking as ordering room service, which with utmost certainty I can see is not worthy of being compared to FSU circa 1970, because even then & there food preparation and especially presentation never looked as 1/2-as$ed as there. Imagine a plate of cold cuts where each piece is of different thickness/shape and that thickness usually starts at about an inch ("lol"). In general, I thought food in Stockholm to be pretty bad (with exception of Matsalen/baren and some dishes in The Veranda, which inadvertently ended up all over me and inside my boots, and not because I placed them there, but I digress).

Gym is not bad, but small and was pretty busy 4 out of 6 days I went there.

Staff at the front desk, with exception of a concierge and one of the guys at the door who were both pleasant & helpful, are cold. But I also had very good, extensive & thorough correspondence via email with someone from reservations and everything requested was provided and response time was outstanding.

The real shocker is the condition the property is in (they are going to be renovating the rest of the property next year, I believe) and of course the public spaces, very closely followed by room service food.

What else would you like to know?

P.S. If you're expecting luxury - don't. Especially within the food & service aspect.
