Airtran also allows same day standby on most fares whihc Southwest definitely does not..
However many people at Southwest seem confused by the policies, don't know how or cannot make changes and in my opinion increasingly making up things.
I thought as much too.
I called AirTran and they said Southwest rules apply since it is Southwest stock. It was worth a shot.
I've found space on another airline I can book too. I may just do that.
