At the Hilton Barcelona now. Am finding the location to be quite good as we've been walking everywhere and taking the subway as needed. Not as convenient as in city center, but quiet, plenty of restaurants near by, and given our walking desires has been no issue getting to the tourist spots. Also easy access to good ethnic food (Indian, Thai). The easy metro and bus access makes the location pretty good for our tastes.
Room and bathroom good sized. Windows are sealed well, so no noise issues. Clean, and very functional space. Internet has been spotty, and I even called in once leading to their discovery that the entire hotel had issues. Seems to be fixed now, and the lobby free wifi aways worked fine. 4th HHonors floor has an extra business center if the lobby one is full.
Breakfast is good. The staff seem a little flustered, but are all friendly. Not mentioned anywhere, but we just asked for eggs made to order and they appeared. Otherwise, the buffet has scrambled. Very good selection of juices, cheeses, breads, cereals, etc. One buffet area even has tofu.
The executive club is the only disappointment. Has been temporarily moved to a curtained off seating area in the lobby, just off the main bar. Has chairs, a TV, and a good selection of liquor and wine and snacks that vary throughout the day. It has been overrun, though, and I have a hard time believing all these guests are Diamond. Because it is in the lobby, and no one appears to be checking credentials, it has been jam packed, and there are a whole set of people who are using it as their dinner, including a lot of folks who are constantly going back and forth from the lounge to the general seating area with plates piled high to feed groups. Even saw some people take full bottles of wine and water to their tables in the bar area. I assume this is due to the temporary location and maybe holiday travelers where a single Diamond is "guesting" family or friends staying in other rooms (along with a contingent that just seems to not realize the lounge is restricted; and why would they? Free drinks behind a curtain, with no signage... worth a try at least.)
