OK. A data point - I have a AMEX BCE. And I have had it for less than an year. It will be an year on Feb 2014. Called customer rep and asked for convert BCE into this BC. And they said all account less than year will not be eligible for this convert. I went ahead and applied and got approved. Also as per the rep, Amex will have this card as long as they can. I think we all can relax that this will be gone in a few hours. It is here to stay as per the rep.
