Seat selections on a UA flight that has been sold as NH flight?
When UA was unable to issue tickets to BKK for some 4 weeks, I ended up purchasing my trip with a ticket issued by NH. Two C class tickets.
Prior to do so, I called UA and indicated I would be buying a ticket with NH for a NH flight operated by UA -- will UA be able to assign our seats for the UA operated flight? The response was "yes of course".
I purchased my ticket. One overwater journey is with NH and I was able to get seat selections by NH. For my codeshare flight op by UA I tried online and it said contact the airport at check-in. I called UA and the agent tries and says the same thing. I explained to her before I bought the ticket and checked with UA. I'm put on hold and she checks with support. I'm told I to wait to check-in on my trip.
I called NH in JP and explained that I'm trying to get certain seats (I do NOT want us to sit in the 4 abreast section of UA's aircraft) plus I want to ensure we are seated together.
She says she will call UA on my behalf to get my seat selecitons. About an 30 minutes later I get a call from NH JP (I'm in MNL) and everything is all done.
When I checked online I noticed my UA flight overwater, using UA's PNR on united.com was now showing as a UA (not NH as it did earlier). This is how I received my seats.
Before I buy anymore codeshare flights, I wanted to ask, is there any other way to get seat selections on a UA flight that has been sold as NH flight?
Many thanks
