Always important for anyone contemplating a challenge at AA... the challenge is based on points not miles and discount economy fares (G, Q, N, O, S) only earn 50% points. Regular economy fares (H, K, M, L, W, V) earn the full 100% points and full economy (Y, B, W) and first / discount first / business all earn 150% points. Make sure you check the fare basis for the tickets you are purchasing as this points vs miles "thing" trips up a lot of people!
