(Also make sure that your fare classes comply with the Challenge requirements or you could come up short. Most discounted fares only earn 50% points credit vs 100% mileage credit and Challenges generally require points not miles as the measure. You may only be hitting 5,222 points toward the Challenge, and thus not hit the 10K required for Platinum. And IIRC you have applied for the Platinum Challenge and fall short, you won't get Gold even if you hit that 5K points requirement.)
Always important for anyone contemplating a challenge at AA... the challenge is based on points not miles and discount economy fares (G, Q, N, O, S) only earn 50% points. Regular economy fares (H, K, M, L, W, V) earn the full 100% points and full economy (Y, B, W) and first / discount first / business all earn 150% points. Make sure you check the fare basis for the tickets you are purchasing as this points vs miles "thing" trips up a lot of people!
