Tokyo Marriott Hotel -- Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan [Master Thread]

I stayed last night at the newly opened Marriott Tokyo Hotel in Shinagawa. Overall, I believe Marriott has done a tremendous job adding this property to their Tokyo portfolio. They have completely remodeled the entire property and it feels like a brand new building. Everything is done in new sleek modern design, huge rooms for Tokyo standard, and plenty of technology and power outlets all over the room.

I am Marriott Plat and was met at the door by the bell man. All the employees have ear piece radios and after asking my name, the bellman escorted me directly to the executive lounge (which is on the ground floor) where the lounge employee was waiting to check me in. The new hotel was completely booked last night so I did not get upgraded, but they met my basic requests of a high floor, king bed, and extra feather pillows (for the mrs.). Welcome amenity choices were soda, water, or a beer and cheese and crackers, japanese candy, or some other random snack. I had a Sapporo and cheese and crackers. Upon entering the room, there were already some fancy little Japanese pastries and a welcome note from the GM.

Cocktail hour at the lounge was fantastic. Pour your own Patron, Maker's mark, Yamazaki Single Malt, and other liquors with the usual wine and champagne. Appetizers and finger foods were the best I've had at any Marriott lounge, and the lounge staff was over the top in their hospitality and doing anything possible to make our stay more comfortable. The Lounge is open 7 days a week from 6 AM - 10 PM and elites get breakfast in the lounge.

There is a beautiful garden right outside with a pond and waterfall, a free shuttle (5 min ride) every 10-20 min to Shinigawa station, and several restaurants and tons of meeting space on the property. My only complaint is the fitness center is a separate private entity in the same building as the hotel. It is not renovated (quite outdated), and not free of charge for anyone. It is $21 per person per workout. I figure if I pay $300/night I could get a free swim in. Great stay, great location, well done Marriott.
