AFAIK the Plat requalification 35% off points cert can only be used on points bookings for basic rooms, not upgraded rooms or suites, although you can apply SNAs to such reservations.

The Westin Nua Dusa is packed with families: screaming children. I would not want to stay there on a honeymoon, or in fact at any other time. Absolutely no way!

Some say the Laguna is dated but OTOH it seems more Balinese in style than most other chain hotels on the island. The simple style of their suite living rooms is relaxing, although I didn't find the dining table seating to be comfortable. The main pool is new and attractive but the lagoon (with direct access rooms) seems old and IMO not very attractive as a place to swim. (Also a bit shallow.) There seem to be a few very large suites at the beach end of the main building which might be classified as villas. In addition, there's a building next to the main building at the beach end that seems to contain a bunch of villas, plus more newly constructed villas located near the entrance to the property (could these be condos or timeshares???) that seem to have a private pool and other facilities. IMO the latter would not be a good location; it's on the grounds but still far from the facilities and very far from the beach.

OP should ask himself what style of property would be comfortable and appreciated by self and wife. If one isn't accustomed to staying in top hotels, the StR could be intimidating and not at all relaxing. OTOH, Kuta seems to be filled with rowdy backpackers, which some would not want either. W caters to trendy people and might not be a good choice for a mature couple.
